| Name | 19th Century Australian Bushfire Reporting |
| Description | This dataset represents places associated with 19th century Australian bushfires; whether they are directly affected or only proximate to the event. Placenames have been harvested from over 5000 19th century Australian newspaper articles. Placenames in each article that occur within a 200 character count of the word 'bushfire' have been extracted and geo-located using the GHAP. This character proximity yields a strong, if unqualified, relationship between
place and disaster. |

Geographic coordinates have been computationally generated and may be imprecise.
Recorded dates correspond to date of publication and not necessarily to the date on which a bushfire occurred.
