Name | Coniston: Massacre Expedition 2 |
---|---|
Description | Sites on the second of three massacre expeditions lead by Mounted Constable Murray, where the expedition encountered Aboriginal people, according to Kimber in Real True History: The Coniston Massacre. This expedition is the most obscure, with few details recorded. "Oral histories, which can only be approximations in time, indicate that, as might be expected, the patrol travelled north along the Hanson River from Pine Hill, having three encounters; from Coniston travelled north along the Lander River country where two more encounters took place; then followed down the Lander and had two more encounters in the general Coniston area." (Kimber, 2003-2004) Kimber's estimates appear to fill in gaps on the Lander and Hanson rivers left by the 1st and 3rd expeditions. |
