Description

This is a recording of a conversation in Nasal between three friends: Pepen, Jefri, and Teguh. The conversation was recorded in an addition that is under-construction behind Anton Supriyadi's house in Tanjung Betuah. Audio was recorded using two audio recorders: a 4-channel Tascam DR-701D and two 2-channel Tascam DR-100s. Teguh is wearing a Countryman Isomax headset microphone and is recorded in Mono through one of the DR-100s. Jefri and Pepen are wearing Shure SM35 headset microphones; Jefri's headset audio is recorded through the other DR-100, and Pepen's is recorded through one channel of the DR-701D. In addition to the headset microphones a stereo microphone was placed on a table among the speakers and recorded to the Tascam DR-701D. Audio was recorded in wav format at 128kHz, 32 bit. Video was recorded in two ways. The first was a Canon XA30, which has an external audio input, set up on a tripod. Camera audio was recorded using a R√∏de NTG2 shotgun microphone connected through the camera's external audio input. Video was recorded in AVCHD format at 30fps with 1920 x 1080 resolution. Additionally a Vuze+ 3D camera was used to record 360 degree and 3D video in MP4 format at 30fps. Informed consent was recorded at the beginning of the session, and the conversation begins at around the 00:03:00 timestamp when the researchers leave the room. Teguh and Pepen smoke cigarettes throughout the recording. At around the 00:22:45 timestamp Pepen scoots his chair closer to the table, which may affect the quality of the 3D camera recording. The conversation continues until around 01:03:30 when the researchers return to collect metadata, which makes up the remainder of the recording. The Tascam DR-701D, which was recording the audio from the floor microphone and from Pepen's headset microphone, ran out of battery and stopped recording at the 1:19:15 timestamp (about ten minutes before the end of the recording). However, by that point the conversation was finished, and metadata was being recorded, so the natural speech data is unaffected.

This is a recording of a conversation in Nasal between two friends: Masykur and Sutardi. The conversation was recorded in the living room of Masykur's house in Gedung Menung. Audio was recorded using a 4-channel Tascam DR-701D. Sutardi is wearing an AKG C520 headset microphone and Masykur is wearing a Shure SM35 headset microphone; the audio of both speakers is recorded in Mono through the DR-701D. In addition to the headset microphones a stereo microphone was placed on the table between the speakers and recorded to the Tascam DR-701D. Informed consent was recorded at the beginning of the session, and the conversation begins at around the 00:03:23 timestamp when the researchers leave the room. Both men smoke cigarettes during the recording. At the 00:03:45 timestamp one of Masykur's children enters the frame and speaks with her father. At 00:05:09 Masykur's phone chimes loudly. Masykur's daughter leaves the room at 00:06:00; she and her mother can be seen watching TV in a back room for most of the recording. At 00:06:58 there is electronic noise and Masykur's phone rings from an incoming call. He answers and speaks to someone in Nasal until 00:08:05. At 00:17:22 Masykur's daughter returns to the frame; at the same time electronic noise can be heard from the recording of the table microphone. Masykur's daughter leaves again at 00:17:28. At 00:24:39 Masykur's wife walks through the frame and her face can be seen. At the same time, Masykur's phone rings and he answers it. At 00:25:17 electronic noise can be heard through the stereo microphone recording, then another phone rings, and Sutardi answers it. Both men speak on the phone in Indonesian and Nasal. Masykur hangs up at 00:26:15. At 00:27:45, Masykur's wife enters the frame bringing coffee for the two men; at the same time, Sutardi passes the phone to Masykur. He talks on the phone again until 00:31:00. Masykur's phone rings again at 00:45:51. He talks on the phone in Indonesian, Semendo, and Nasal, until he hangs up at 00:49:06. Starting at 01:07:40 the two men watch a video on a phone, and the music can be heard loudly in the recording. At 01:11:52 a call comes on the phone that Sutardi is holding, and he answers it. While Sutardi is talking on the phone in Nasal, Masykur starts recording a video on his phone, and both men talk simultaneously in Indonesian and Nasal. Sutardi hangs up at 01:15:08. Masykur apparently continues recording until 01:16:47, when Sutardi's phone chimes. Sutardi then starts recording on his phone at 01:17:12. Then at 01:18:39 electronic noise can be heard through the stereo microphone, and Masykur's phone rings loudly for about 10 seconds. He talks on the phone in Indonesian and Nasal as Sutardi continues recording a video on his phone and narrating. Masykur hangs up at 01:19:41. Sutardi apparently continues to record a video on his phone until about 01:21:32. The two men continue conversing until 01:22:22 when the researchers return to record metadata. Construction sounds can be heard from outside during the second half of the recording.

This is a recording of a conversation in Nasal between four friends: David, Akhiatul, Iskandar, and Ari. The conversation was recorded in the under-construction addition behind Anton Supriyadi's house in Tanjung Betuah. Audio was recorded using two audio recorders: a 4-channel Tascam DR-701D and a 2-channel Tascam DR-100. Ari is wearing an AKG C520 headset microphone and is recorded in Mono through the DR-701D. Davidi and Iskandar are wearing Shure SM35 headset microphones; Iskandar's headset audio is recorded through the DR-100, and David's is recorded through one channel of the DR-701D. Akhiatul is wearing a Countryman Isomax headset microphone which is recorded in Mono through the second channel of the DR-100. In addition to the headset microphones a stereo microphone was placed on a stool near the speakers and recorded to the Tascam DR-701D. Informed consent was recorded at the beginning of the session, and the conversation begins at around the 00:03:25 timestamp when the researchers finish setting up the equipment and leave the room. Ari smokes cigarettes intermittently during the recording. Because of the angle of the tripod camera shot, Akhiatul's face is sometimes obscured by Iskandar's head. Iskandar himself is facing away from the camera, and his face is hard to see for most of the session. At 00:40:05 there is a power outage, but the video quality remains good, and the participants are illuminated by lights set up for the recording session. At around 00:41:28 Bradley, Jacob and Anton can be seen walking around checking the equipment. At around 00:42:44 Bradley, Jacob and Anton return to collect metadata.
