Description
A sung version of part of the traditional story of Maaw Nawng Yaang and Naang Kham Kaw; the full epic tale is many hours long. It may be a local version of the story of Prince Lo (which has a famous Thai version, ลิลิตพระลอ), except the names in this version are maaw6 nOng1 jaang4 (‘Mr. Crane Lake’) and naang4 kham4 kO6 (‘Lady ??? Gold’). There is also a version where there names are sHaam1 lO4 (sHaam1 means ‘third son’ and lO4 would be cognate with the ลอ in Thai พระลอ, meaning unclear) and o2 pim6 (o2 means ‘fifth daughter’ and pim6 meaning unclear). This snippet proved difficult to parse and translate, due to its poetic style, but the basic gist is that there are two villages, Patong Village and Tsoi Tsa-kho Village, and the young man (Nong Yang) from Patong is singing to the ladies of Tsoi Tsa-kho, asking if they have heard of him, etc. Sometimes he is singing to a group of ladies, sometimes to Kham Ko alone. It is a series of calls and answers between the man and the women.

Description
A comic folktale about four friends, each with a distinctive physical feature, who have a comic misadventure. The storyteller has left out some parts of the story, and starts over partway through. The story transitions into a ‘stupid person’ story that culminates as a manusiha (sphinx) origin tale. The story involves four friends: the titular Big Hands, along with Big Ears, Big Boogers, and Sharp Bottom. They are going to sell dried fermented fished (in a boat on the river), and they get angry with Big Hands because they sell their wares by the scoop and his big hands means they run out of fish right away. Being angry, Sharp Bottom sits down in a huff, and pierces a hole in the bottom of the boat. Then Big Boogers blows a big booger onto the hole to patch it. And then something about Big Ears, who can make his ears grow in size, uses his ears as a sail for their boat. And so forth.
