Robert Cock, persuaded the two Aboriginal men 'to come to the Commissioner's store, where they received some potatoes and other food'. Governor John Hindmarsh 'likewise took advantage of this occassion' to assure the Aboriginal men 'of his protection and to invite them, in all cases of uneasiness, to seek redress from himself and the Protector'.
